About Me

I am Chip (Aka Dale) and I work in the Digital Forensics & Incident Response arena for a large UK CERT

I am happily married to my wife Colleen and enjoy rugby (watching), F1 and of course anything computer related has always peaked my interest!

Although I started my working life as an RAF Policeman I have been very fortunate to end up within an area of the job that I have always aspired to.  It’s an area that requires a lot of study and is far from 9-5 but I am fortunate to have the unwavering support of my gorgeous wife Colleen! She has my unending gratitude for that.

Although I am quite new to the DFIR field I am fortunate to have some very knowledgeable people around me who have the same collaborative outlook on life as me.  I am constantly learning and realise that no one person can ever know everything, although some do indeed come close!

This blog is my record of the journey I am making through DFIR and I am hopeful it will be of use to others out there who might make the same journey.

My career within the RAFP began by dealing with mainly Physical Security, Information Assurance and also Protective Security which has given me a broad foundation before moving into the Cyber Security Arena.
